Ironically, Rep. Grimm is a former FBI agent and has already been involved in an incident in which he illegally used his firearm. He is a Tea Party Republican who will be up for re-election. Portugal has been a diligent and labouriou...s "deficit-reducer". This country had reduced the deficit of 2011 to lower than desired levels (despite some budgetary accidents in a certain autonomous region) and it's citizens have shown resolve in accepting various tax raises, benefit reductions and structural reforms, which will eventually bear fruit. Some already have. Ireland is another "poor thing". It has not been too successful at attaining a sustainable, low deficit, but it has managed to grow, even if meager. Something that stronger Euro Zone countries can only dream about now. Yet, markets have been quick to punish the PIG (Portugal, Ireland and Greece). Pre-crisis markets were risk happy and more than happy to support budgetary ill discipline, but now that the reverse is occurring markets are condoning such fiscal consolidation (even though that is what they say is required). Markets clearly aren't looking for solid fiscal stability as much as growth. Lack of growth is the enemy of the Euro Zone! Not the banks or "Euro-citizens". Misguided politicians and Angela Merkel's "election-winning" tactics are not only back-firing on Mrs Mercel, but also on Europe (and soon Germany too). Germany without its other 26 partners is nothing. Thus, it is in the best interests of Germany to save and support these "sick" EU nations until they are nursed back to health. This hospitalisation should take the form of grow enhancing structural reforms and easing of tax burdens on businesses and on employment. Bureaucracy should be minimised and entrepreneurial projects incentivised to curb high unemployment numbers. This could be done if healthier EU nations gave more advantageous terms to bail-out packages. Mrs Mercel will surely lose in the coming German elections. Let's just hope that her successor is more determined to solve this problem that Mrs Mercel is.See More
